Overview Of The Consolidated Appropriations Act (CAA), 2021

The Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021, contains multiple provisions that will affect group health plans and the health care system, overall. The timeline to implement these provisions is an aggressive one with many effective dates of January 1, 2022.

Mental Health Parity, however, is one provision with an effective date of February 10, 2021, and it states:

  • Plans must perform and document comparative analyses of design and application of non-quantitative treatment limits (NQTLs). The analyses must be made available to state and federal authorities upon request.

We’re working to ensure documentation of the analyses for our insured groups. Additionally, we’re continuing to work on understanding how we can assist our self-funded groups to meet the requirements of the law.

Information on additional provisions, an overview of those provisions, and their effective dates can be found using the link below. Contact your account representative with additional questions.
